An employee at the access point (such as a site supervisor) checks the authenticity of workers' identity documents. He or she also checks that the right person is standing in front of them. At some work locations, this employee uses Oribi ExpertID. This device scans the document and establishes the authenticity of the identity document. Your identity document is not copied in the process.
No copy is made of an identity document. The worker shows the identity document to the employee at the access point, who only views the document and checks it for authenticity. In addition, this employee checks details such as the passport number, expiry date and the unique citizen service number as recorded in Oribi WorkpassID.
A foreign worker from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) must provide a copy of the identity document. Laws around identification of third-country nationals require this.
An exception applies to Turkish and Swiss nationals; they do not have to provide a copy of the identity document.
The employer of the foreign worker provides the copy in advance by uploading it to the foreign worker's WorkpassID profile. The organisation's assessor checks the copy of the identity document and indicates whether it is in order.
Is the worker from outside the EEA (and not from Turkey or Switzerland), and is Oribi ExpertID used on the project? Then a file of the identity document is created with the equipment. This is stored securely in our data centre (ISO 27001).
