This article specifically describes Dutch laws and regulations
As of 1 April 2019, the Governance Code Veiligheid in de Bouw (Governance Code for Safety in Construction) launched the Generic Gate Instruction (GPI). The aim of the GPI is to improve safety in construction and reduce the number of different gate instructions used by construction companies. Oribi has built an integration with the GPI register to automate verification of these certificates. You can find more information about the GPI on the GPI website.
Purpose of the integration
When you use the GPI integration in Oribi WorkpassID, you can be sure that every worker registered at the work location has a valid GPI certificate. You gain insight into the validity of the GPI certificates of the workers who are working at the work location, so you can ensure in good time that they renew their certificates.
Configuration options
The subcontractor enters personal data when pre-registering personnel. Exactly which data is processed depends on the applicable laws and regulations and the settings chosen by the organisation.
The following setting is available for the GPI: GPI mandatory for workers.
If you make the GPI mandatory, the following input fields become mandatory for workers:
Surname
Date of birth
GPI expiry date
These settings give you the flexibility to, for example, make the GPI mandatory across all your projects and then deviate from this for a few projects, or vice versa.
The GPI integration is only available for workers, not for visitors.
You can easily have the GPI integration activated by the Servicedesk and apply the described settings yourself.
Enabling GPI on ongoing projects
If your project has already been running for a while, you can still choose to enable the GPI. It is important to know that if you make the GPI mandatory, all workers you had previously registered will show as not having a GPI according to Oribi WorkpassID. Oribi WorkpassID cannot check whether these individuals have obtained a GPI, because we do not know the expiry date of their GPI certificate. As long as we do not know that expiry date, we cannot check anything with the GPI register.
The only solution for this is to manually look up expiry dates yourself in the GPI register (at www.gpi.nu) and enter the expiry date afterwards for each registered worker. You do this on the Work Location screen. Select the red GPI label to enter the expiry date:
Information exchange between Oribi WorkpassID and the GPI register
To determine whether a worker has a valid GPI certificate, information is exchanged between the Oribi WorkpassID systems and the GPI register.
Oribi WorkpassID collects data from the worker during the pre-registration of personnel. During this pre-registration, Oribi WorkpassID sends the following data for a worker to the GPI register:
Surname
Date of birth
The response we receive from the GPI register is then simple: a yes or a no, along with the expiry date. A yes means a valid GPI certificate has been found for this combination of data. A no means no valid GPI certificate has been found, and we do not receive an expiry date back. The register does not indicate the cause of this. There may be a typing error in the data entered, or the GPI certificate may have expired. Because the GPI register does not provide us with this information, Oribi WorkpassID cannot help the user with this.
