The organisation running the project has a legal obligation to record certain details from a worker's identity document. To prevent errors, Oribi WorkpassID copies some of these details automatically. In this article we explain which details these are and how they are recorded.
Check at the work location
When you enter the work location, you show your identity document to the site supervisor. The site supervisor checks whether you are the correct person and whether the document is valid and genuine. In addition, some details are recorded, as required by law.
Details that are recorded
Workers in paid employment
Nationality
Type of identity document (passport, identity card or residence document, not a driving licence)
Document number
Document expiry date
Personal identification number (if shown on the document)
Self-employed workers
For self-employed workers, no details are copied from the identity document.
How are these details recorded?
Some projects use an ID scanner. This ID scanner automatically checks whether an identity document is genuine and valid. The ID scanner reads various details from the document, some of which are recorded automatically in WorkpassID. This reduces the chance of errors.
Is no ID scanner used on a project? In that case these details are recorded manually. This is done on the basis of the information provided by your employer or by you. In this case too, recording the details is required by law.
