Oribi WorkpassID requests identity details and identifiers for each worker. Which ones depend on the project role and on whether the worker is employed or self-employed.
Applies to projects that use the Portuguese compliance rules in WorkpassID.
For the legal background, see the FAQ: What is the NIF?, What is the NISS? and Personal data and ID checks on Portuguese sites
What is requested
Item | Employed workers | Self-employed workers |
|---|---|---|
NIF | Requested (chain liability subcontractor and Supplier) | Requested |
NISS | Requested (chain liability subcontractor and Supplier) | Requested |
ID document type, number, expiry date | Requested | Not requested |
Under the Portuguese rules, WorkpassID does not ask workers of the project's own organisation for these items. Third-country uploads are explained in [Third-country nationals: residence, work authorisation and passport uploads].
NIF
Use the NIF of the worker. Do not use the NIPC of the company or the NISS. Enter the number accurately. The input checks in WorkpassID do not verify that the number is a valid NIF or that it belongs to the person. A NIF entered during onsite registration stays in the signed registration record. It does not update the record of the worker.
NISS
The NISS can look optional on the worker form and still be a required item in the assessment. Saving the form does not complete that assessment, and the input check does not verify the number. Onsite registration has no screen for entering the NISS, so enter it on the worker form.
Identity document
Recording the type, number and expiry date is not the same as authenticating a document or confirming the right to work. If a request does not fit the person's situation, ask the assessor.
